Gate-

Thought of another one. Might be a good YOUFINDUMS. Back in the 70s &
80s, a sculptor named Peter Toth (Hungarian immigrant) donated
sculptures honoring Native Americans to each of the 50 states. The
Delaware sculpture is called 'Chief Little Owl' and stands at the
entrance to the town of Bethany Beach, and the Maryland statue is in
Ocean City, which is 10 miles S of Bethany Beach. Apparently the Ohio
statue is in Akron.

There's a not-very-favorable review of the project and the Arkansas
statue at www.arktimes.com/mara/090498mara.html, it gives a little
background.

So far I haven't found a definitive listing of where they are, butt
that's pretty much irrelevant, IMHO.

Now back to my regularly scheduled reading of work email...

A shoe tree starts with one dreamer, tossing his or her footwear-of-old high into the sky, to catch on an out-of-reach branch. It usually end there, unseen and neglected by others. But on rare occasions, that first pair of shoes triggers a shoe tossing cascade. Soon, teens are gathering up their old Adidas and Sauconys, families are driving out after church with Dad's Reeboks and grandma's Keds. The shoe tree blooms with polymer beauty. A work of art like this may last for generations, tracing our history by our sneakers . . .as long as the tree doesn't die.   Look for a tree @ Highway 50 neaar Middle Gate, Nevada, one between Alturas, CA and Lakeview, OR on Highway 395, one in Beaver Arkansas
